An international student has been killed while standing outside his home after his best friend allegedly ran him over when he pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.
Ismail Hossain, 25, was at his Wiley Park home in Sydney’s south-west shortly after midnight on Monday when Nasir Uddin, 24, pulled into the driveway.
It is alleged that Uddin wanted to reverse the Toyota Corolla but instead pressed the accelerator.
He was later charged with negligent driving causing death and appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Monday afternoon where he was granted bail.
The court heard that Mr Hossain went to his friend’s house late on Sunday evening to return a bicycle he had borrowed for work.
According to police records, the 25-year-old then went to greet the group of friends from Bangladesh who live in the house on Cornelia Street.
Mr Hossain was at the house around 12.15pm when he went outside to park his red Toyota Camry in the front garden.
While walking back to the house, Uddin reportedly pulled into the driveway and attempted to park his Toyota Corolla.

It is alleged that Uddin drove his car into Mr Hossain during the manoeuvre.
“The momentum was pushing [Mr Hossain] into the corner wall of the home, pinning him down and causing serious head injuries,” police allege. Sydney Morning Herald.
“The police assume that the suspect accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.”
Police allege Uddin reversed his car several meters after the collision.
Their friends rushed outside after hearing a loud crash, finding Mr Hossain lying on the ground and Uddin in the front garden.
Neighbors also came to help.
“We just heard a loud noise, like hitting a house, so we stepped outside and saw someone else crying,” a witness told Nine News.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but were unable to revive Mr Hossain.
He and Uddin were both Bangladeshi international students who were believed to be old friends.

A crime scene was established and investigated by specialized police.
Police arrested Uddin and took him to hospital for mandatory tests before being taken to Campsie police station where he was charged with negligent driving causing death.
He appeared at Parramatta Bail Court today where he was granted bail on a $2000 surety.
He was ordered to surrender his passport and report to police daily as part of his bail conditions.
Uddin will appear in Bankstown District Court on October 15.
