Bandage of brothers! How RNC delegates are strapping up their ears as it becomes a symbol of support and defiance among Donald Trump’s supporters

Delegates at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, tie homemade bandages around their ears in yet another sign of devotion to former President Donald Trump.

Trump, 78, was seen walking into the RNC on Monday with a bandage over his ear, just two days after he was shot at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

And in a sign of their near-feverish support for Trump, Republican delegates were seen wearing their own bandages, either made and brought with them or given to them as they walked around the Fiserv Forum in the heart of Wisconsin’s largest city.

Texas Rep. Jackson Carpenter told The Washington Post he applied the bandage after learning someone else had handed it out at the conference.

He loved the bandage as a symbol because ‘w“We need a symbol that makes it clear that political violence is not acceptable in America.”

Washington State Rep. Zachary Landsdowne said he brought one he made at home from Band-Aids, but no one paid attention to it until he replaced it with white paper.

“I saw a guy with a whole napkin on the side of his head, but it didn’t look like a bandage,” he added with a laugh.

The RNC, which concludes today, saw a large majority of delegates endorse Donald Trump to become the next official Republican nominee for the 2024 election.

They joined the conference’s regular attendees, who had dressed up in MAGA style for the event.

Sequins, glitter, stars, stripes, elephants and lots of red, white and blue were on display in downtown Milwaukee as visitors rushed to and from a series of events at the Fiserv Forum.

On Monday, some state delegations wore matching themed outfits as second-term nominee Trump takes the White House. Other delegations opted for a mix of their best America-loving attire.

Even though they weren’t dressed from head to toe, some people still managed to get into the spirit with different accessories, hats and other inspiring looks.

Rep. Sylvia Spivey and her husband Randy were decked out in Texas-inspired attire. In addition to their hats, Sylvia wore a shirt with cowboy boots on it, while Randy wore a Houston Astros jersey.

The couple had taken off their cowboy boots because of the walking involved, but Sylvia also carried an elephant bag, Trump earrings and a belt buckle commemorating the conference, which had been specially designed for the delegation.

“It was great to see Trump come in last night,” said Sylvia Spivey. For her and Randy, the most important issue is securing the border.

Albert Herrera and his son Yosef Herrera, who heads the National High School Republican Federation, both attended the convention wearing cowboy hats adorned with pins featuring the yellow rose of Texas.

They also wore their Lone Star shirts, which the entire delegation plans to wear this week.

The Herraras also had a special four-legged friend with them. Albert’s service dog, Tzeitel, also wore her Texas attire, including a red cowboy hat, decorated boots and a Texas state flag on her harness.

Idaho’s Sara Brady wears one every day of the Republican National Convention and is perhaps the most formally dressed attendee on the convention floor.

On Monday, she wore a Trump-themed red, white and blue dress featuring an image of the former president after he raised his fist in the air following the attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The dress she wore on Tuesday was a yellow ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ dress. She claimed she made the dress as a party dress after charges against her were dropped after she took her children to a playground during COVID and was arrested.

She said she has an “Appeal to Heaven”-themed dress for Wednesday and will bring Trump’s dress for Thursday night, when the former president delivers his speech.

While the RNC was an ode to the GOP, police officers were forced to shoot and kill a man with a knife less than a mile from where the convention was being held.

According to reports, five police officers patrolling on bicycles opened fire after the man turned on them with the knife.

It happened just hours before Trump and his running mate JD Vance were to hear speeches from leading Republicans in the convention arena.

Police from Columbus, Ohio, were involved in the shooting. The officers were on a mission in Milwaukee to help with the increased security for the event following the attempted assassination of Donald Trump on Saturday.

The shooting occurred outside the Secret Service guard area.

Initial reports indicated the dead man was homeless, had been involved in a fight with another homeless man and was using crack cocaine.

Witnesses said the man was known by the nickname “Jehovah.”
