A young driver has spoken out after a ‘particularly vicious’ road rant left her horribly injured – while police are on the hunt for the man responsible.

The 25-year-old woman was driving down Oravel Street in Balwyn North in Melbourne’s east on Wednesday night.

A black VW Golf hatch overtook the woman’s white Honda Civic, causing her to honk.

The man responded by repeatedly hitting the brakes and blocking her car.

The woman stopped before the driver of the black hatch walked up to her and verbally assaulted her through the window.

The woman, already on crutches with a broken leg, waited for the man to get back to his car before getting out and asking for an apology.

The man quickly turned violent, punching her in the face and breaking her nose.

“He hit me in the face so hard that I fell and hit the back of my head,” the woman said 7 News.

During the five-minute attack, the man repeatedly punched her in the face and taunted her as she tried to crawl away.

“He told me this is what you deserve… I thought he was going to kill me,” she said.

He then returned to his car, left the young woman bleeding in the gutter, and told her he would be back in two minutes to “finish the job.”

Acting Sergeant Gary Tivendale said it was one of the worst traffic assaults he had heard of in his career.

The woman’s mother and witnesses called for help and she was taken to hospital to be treated for her broken nose.

The man wanted in connection with the attack is described as being of southern European appearance, in his 20s and about 175 cm tall.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
