Balmoral State High School issues calendar featuring disturbing images of teachers
A Queensland high school is under fire after a calendar full of disturbing photos from a staff photo shoot was leaked to the public.
The photos showed staff at Brisbane’s Balmoral State High School in compromising positions, with one teacher dressed as a nun and the other wearing a sparkling gold mankini with his legs spread wide.
The photos were printed on a 2023 staff calendar, which was displayed in the staff room Courier mail reported.
A whistleblower raised concerns about the calendar after a staff complaint in December resulted in the denial of its existence.
The school is located in Brisbane State Education Minister Dianne Farmer’s inner Bulimba electorate.

One photo shows a teacher wearing a gold mankini, bent over on their hands and knees, while a teacher in a nun’s outfit places a foot on the small of their back.
Another shows a teacher pouring a carton of milk on another teacher.
The leaked photos have drawn mixed reactions from the public, with some suggesting they cross the line while others say they shouldn’t be taken too seriously.
“I don’t want to be prudish… they’re probably having a bit of fun,” Queensland Senator Matt Canavan said on Today.
“It’s probably more embarrassing for them than for anyone else.”
Nine reporter Heidi Murphy said the “worst part” was when the photos were leaked from the staffroom and put “on the national stage.”
A whistleblower told the Courier Mail that the calendar is evidence of a toxic culture at the school.
The whistleblower also said the calendar was left on desks in a staff room, where students may have seen it.
“It’s the lack of professionalism, it’s the fact that they got a nun involved and he’s dressed as a gay man – it’s completely inappropriate… and completely unacceptable,” they said.
The Department of Education said it is “investigating the matter” but that it “does not comment on individual employee cases.”
The department spokesperson said it “has a responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of employee information.”
The Ministry of Education said the school said the calendar had not been shown to students or parents.
Balmoral State High School has been contacted for comment.
