An Australian man is fighting for his life in hospital after being mercilessly beaten on the streets of Bali.

Lachie Hunt, from Perth, Western Australia, was attacked and mugged at the tourist hotspot earlier this week.

He was rushed to BIMC Hospital in Kuta with a broken leg, bleeding in the brain and a possible spinal fracture.

Lachie’s mother, Melissa, has flown to Bali to be at her son’s bedside as he slowly recovers.

Lachie Hunt (pictured) was severely beaten on the streets of Bali earlier this week during what his friend believes was a mugging.

Nursing staff revealed that they had spoken to Lachie and his mother after he woke up on Saturday morning, the Western Australia informed.

A GoFundMe Page has been set up by Lachie’s friend Jarrad Visser to cover his friend’s hospital bills.

“Looks like he was robbed and beaten up pretty good, can’t remember much,” he wrote.

It’s pretty bruised all over. He is at BIMC Bali hospital receiving the best care, but the best care is very expensive. So asking if you can help in any way to go deeper would be very helpful and would mean a lot to the family..’

He said that Lachie had a long road ahead of him and listed his horrible injuries.

“I am in contact with his mother Mel, she is there taking good care of him and his injuries are a possible broken back and he has a bleed on his brain,” Visser wrote.

The Australian youngster suffered a broken femur, bleeding in the brain and a possible broken back and is recovering at BIMC Hospital in Kuta.

Lachie has posted numerous photos from his trips to Bali on social media. In one post, she wrote: “One day I will be able to call this place home…”.

Mr. Visser shared the GoFundMe link on Facebook and wrote: ‘Lachie needs our help people. If you can help it would mean a lot.

Lachie seems to have visited Bali several times, even wishing in one post that he could move to the Indonesian paradise.

‘Someday I will be able to call this place my home…’, he wrote on Instagram.

The GoFundMe page to support Lachie has already raised more than $17,000.
