Proud Bali bogans who have moved to the island paradise and opened a restaurant claim jealous Aussies are trying to KILL their dream: “Our fellow bogans are beating us up”

  • Restaurant owners have defended the decision to name the venue after the Facebook page
  • The owners named the venue ‘BB’s Bali Bogan Bar and Restaurant’ after a popular group
  • They took to social media after receiving ‘nasty comments’ from some members.

Australian restaurant owners in Bali were forced to defend their decision to name a restaurant after the ‘Bali Bogans’ Facebook group after members threatened to ban them from the popular page.

BB’s Bali Bogan bar and restaurant opened three days before Christmas in Seminyak, a busy hub located on the west coast of Bali in Indonesia.

The new owners of the venue have already hit a snag after several members of the popular Facebook page took offense at the name being used as inspiration.

The popular page offers advice for travelers planning to holiday in Bali, often from Australians who have decided to live in the Indonesian province full-time.

“Sounds like some people on the Bali Bogans Facebook page aren’t happy that we’ve named our restaurant and bar BB’s (Bali Bogans) Bar & Bistro,” the post read.

‘We did it because we ourselves come to Bali three or four times a year and we are definitely Bali Bogans!

“We have received nasty comments that people will only support Balinese restaurants.”

The owners said they wanted to clear up a few things for their enemies, one of which is that most restaurants in Bali are owned by foreigners.

They claimed to have hired local builders to build the venue, which features two bars, a children’s playroom and pool tables, spending as much as $100,000 so far.

The ‘bogans’ also employed up to 20 full-time Balinese employees and said they treat their workers better and pay them more than other Australian companies in Bali.

We also support Balinese-owned small business owners, like the suppliers we use,” the post continued.

“To be told that we will be banned from the Bali Bogans Facebook page is heartbreaking.

“We have not asked people to post their feedback on that page, they are doing it just to let other fellow Bali Bogans know how great our food and service is.

‘Surely that’s not a crime?

“In fact, we have paid a lot of money to register BB’s (Bali Bogans) Bar & Bistro as a business name.”

The restaurant’s owners said the thought of being banned from the ‘Bali Bogans’ Facebook page was heartbreaking, saying they had paid ‘top dollar’ to register the company name.

The owners said they were just trying to live their ‘Bali Dream’ and felt like they were being beaten by their ‘fellow bogans’.

“It’s really sad that some people can’t support others’ attempts to make a living in Bali and improve the lives of real Balinese,” the post concluded.

“Because I would have thought that Bali Bogans would have supported other Bali Bogans.”

The business was quickly inundated with messages of support from other Australians.

“Not sure what’s happened to the BBs but they seem to have a God complex right now,” wrote one woman.

“Jealous people who have no idea what they have gone through to establish and how much their dollar is really going to the Balinese,” said another.

I’ll be there next week and I’ll be sure to come eat! Fuck the haters,” a third commented.

‘Good luck with your Australian bogan business and congratulations on following your dreams! Next time we’re there we’ll stop by for sure,” said a fourth.
