Baldur’s Gate 3 is an isometric open-world RPG where you control both a protagonist and a supporting party of adventurers. Although visually very similar Diablo 4play indoors Baldur’s Gate is divided between real-time and turn-based sections.

Most of the game takes place in real time: you explore the map, solve puzzles, find items and talk to NPCs. However, should things turn violent, time pauses and characters take turns acting politely. In these moments Baldur’s Gate 3 is much like a tactical RPG, where positioning, as well as using skills and spells, becomes essential if you want to keep your party members alive.

As with previous Larian Studios games, Baldur’s Gate makes generous use of environmental effects. If you hit a puddle of oil with a fire spell, it will ignite, causing a lot of inconvenience to any poor unfortunate who stands on top of it. Movement and positioning are also keywords. Objects can be thrown and enemies can be pushed; providing a buffet of tactical options.
