Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 5 adds a new epilogue with ‘some of the most complex writing in the game so far’
Baldur’s Gate 3 patch five is now live and it’s a big one, to say the least. Not only have a slew of performance improvements been rolled out, but players can now experience a brand new epilogue, which developer Larian Studios says features “some of the most complex writing in the game yet.”
In the patch notes, which have been shared on SteamLarian described the epilogue as a “new playable chapter (that) takes place six months after the events of Baldur’s Gate 3the story.” Players can access it by loading the game prior to the final battle.
“Your epilogue is determined by you,” Larian wrote. “This is the culmination of every choice and consequence you’ve made since the very beginning of your adventure, a giant tree of permutations that leads to a chance to reflect on that journey before you say goodbye. For Larian’s writers, this “final farewell” has resulted in one of the most complex texts in the game to date, as it takes advantage of Baldur’s Gate 3the reactivity throughout the entire adventure.”
Furthermore, new game modes – Honor Mode and Custom Mode – have also been added, offering new ways to play. Honor Mode is the hardest mode yet, making things in and out of combat more challenging than ever before. More than 30 adjustments have been made to boss battles, and you can expect your strongest enemies to take new actions during your battles. As a treat, those who manage to survive the entire game without dying in Honor Mode will be rewarded with a Gold D20 to use in the game.
In Custom Mode you can make a lot of adjustments to your experience, such as the ability to disable Death Saving Throws and allow Short Rests to completely heal the party. That’s why you can approach role-playing in a way that suits you.
Crucially, patch five has also added the ability to manage the inventory of all companions without them being part of your active party – a change that is sure to be well received. Additionally, players can also get new outfits for original characters, so make sure to check those out.
