Finally the wait is over: Larian Studios has officially announced the release date for the Xbox Series|S version of Baldur's Gate 3and players can dive straight into the action.
Well, isn't this a nice surprise? This has already been stated a few times by the developers Baldur's Gate 3 would hit Xbox's current generation of consoles at the end of the year, but I'm not sure anyone expected it to happen here and now. Prospective players can now download a digital version of the massive role-playing game, so the only thing keeping them from diving in is the ever-increasing file size; and of course the hours they will inevitably spend on screen creating character.
While Baldur's Gate 3 released on PC in August and PlayStation 5 a month later, developers encountered problems during development to get the split-screen co-op feature working on the Xbox Series S. In August, Larian boss Swen Vincke revealed that the Series S version no longer features split screen at launchbut the official Xbox Twitter account clarified that it will continue to work with developers after launch to “explore the addition.” This could be the first game to ignore Microsoft's version parity requirement for games launching on Xbox Series S and X
