Balding man unrecognisable after ‘incredible’ transformation as new admirers say ‘it has taken 15 years off him’
A balding man cried tears of joy after an ‘incredible’ hair transformation left him unrecognisable.
Gethin was stunned when his hairdresser Rob Wood at Novo Cabelo salon in Durham breathed new life into his hair.
Before Rob worked his magic, Gethin’s hair was thinning on top and he had to comb it into a comb-over style.
Novo Cabelo employees filmed the transformation and shared it on TikTok, where it was viewed more than half a million times by stunned social media users.
When he first sat down in the chair, Gethin explained why he had made an appointment at the salon.

He admitted that his hair had been thinning for years, but that he had tried to hide his hair loss since his 40th birthday in February last year.
He said: [My hair] started to thin out. Of course you can see it in the back, you can see it on the forehead, of course losing a lot of hair too.
“You get used to the same old song, I guess that’s the only way I can explain it.”
He explained how frustrated he was because he couldn’t do anything with his hair: “You just do it, you go with it and it is what it is.”
Gethin was excited about a new start and trusted the talented hands of hairdresser Rob when he exclaimed: ‘Today the 40th anniversary starts.’
The barber cut and shaved his way through Gethin’s hair, carefully selecting real human hair to match the 40-year-old’s color, texture and style.
According to Rob, the hairpiece can last four to six months, but it needs to be reapplied every three to four weeks.
Gethin was speechless with tears of joy when his new appearance was revealed in the mirror.
The beaming 40-year-old said: ‘Oh my god. I never thought I’d see the day again. God, it’s absolutely amazing, I love it – I absolutely love it.’
However, this wasn’t the first time hairdresser Rob transformed someone’s hair. Four years ago, he started his ‘lockdown baby’ Novo Cabelo.

Rob told MailOnline: ‘It all started 10 years ago when one of the girls who worked for me, her brother-in-law, was really struggling with his mental health in relation to his hair loss.
“So I did some YouTube searching and research to see what was out there and what we could do with it. That’s when I found the hair systems.”
After trying the hair system on his colleague’s brother-in-law, Rob decided to open Novo Cabelo and specialize in treating hair loss in all ages and genders.
Reflecting on Gethin’s transformation, who was on her way to the salon as we spoke, Rob said: ‘It’s amazing. Because with one hand I’m just doing my job, but I just love it.
‘I never get tired of it. I just think it’s something so simple that can really change people’s lives and the way they see themselves.
“How they feel inside. To be able to do that service is such a blessing and a real privilege to do.”
He added: ‘For Gethin, this new look was very important because he was at a point in his life where he felt like he needed to change and feel better.
‘And this was just the beginning of his journey, and it was quite emotional, just meeting him for a consultation.
“Everyone is different and everyone sees her differently. We all have our stories to tell and I think that’s the beauty of it.”
Gethin was thrilled with his new look and regularly shows off his new hair styling methods in the salon, Rob said.
