Baker accidentally creates wild optical illusion after posting a simple snap: ‘This is mind-blowing’

A baker's image of her swirly ice cream cookies has sent hundreds into a spin after it created a chance illusion.

Blogger Erika wowed fans with her bird's-eye view of blue and white snowflake cookies on a brown and cream marble countertop, dusted with sugar.

Many said they thought the “optical illusion” made the cookies look sunken, while others thought they looked like a quilt, 3D images of ginger, bubbles or paint.

Others were left completely stunned by the split.

'Apparently I accidentally took some kind of optical illusion photo! Like a blue dress/black dress situation. What do you see in this photo???' Erika asked in a post on her Facebook page Your baking bestie.

The image was created to show home bakers how to create a stunning marble dipped glazing technique.

Blogger Erika left fans amazed with her photo of snowflake cookies on a marble countertop. Many thought the image was a 'trippy' optical illusion

Hundreds of users were left scratching their heads over the photo and sharing what they thought they saw.

'Absolutely mind-boggling when you first look at it. It took me a long time to notice the counter popping up between each cookie,” one woman said.

“Without any context my brain thought it was some kind of kaleidoscope illusion, like paint and rock/sand bubbles,” a second replied.

'I thought I was looking at a bunch of ginger on beautiful paper. Now I see the cookies and the counter,” a third wrote.

“The negative space is what I noticed first, so it looked like a blown up quilt or something,” another thought.

But after a few more seconds of staring and looking more closely, most people “tuned in” to what they were actually looking at.

'Thats crazy! The vortex part seemed sunk into the sand until I enlarged it!' one viewer said and another commented: 'Omg! So very strange! I had to zoom in and out to see it.'

“Now that I see what it really is, I can't see what I saw in the first place,” one person added.
