BAFTA TV Awards 2024 LIVE: The Crown and Happy Valley to battle for honours as Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan host ceremony in London

Crown viewers were left stunned after the series received a whopping eight nominations at the BAFTA TV Awards, labeling the sixth series as ‘mediocre’.

The TV BAFTA nominations were announced in March

ahead of the ceremony on May 12, with The Crown leading the way with the most nods in total.

The Netflix hit is nominated in major categories including Best Actor, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress.

But critics of the royal drama have suggested it didn’t deserve the nods, claiming it has ‘gone downhill’ and become a ‘snooze-fest’.

Some concluded that while the six-series drama got off to a strong start, it is no longer as entertaining as it was when it started in 2016.
