Bad news for Hunter Biden as a SPECIAL COUNCIL has been appointed to oversee an investigation into his business dealings and faces trial for gun and tax crimes as final plea talks have fallen through
Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed U.S. attorney David Weiss of Delaware as special counsel in the investigation into Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals.
Garland made the shocking announcement at a press conference Friday in a sign that the walls on the president’s son are closing in.
The nomination is a move by Garland to undermine claims by Republicans and IRS whistleblowers that Weiss does not have full authority and is being directed by the Biden administration.
It came as new lawsuits also showed that Hunter’s tax and gun crimes are likely to go to trial, while negotiations for a new plea deal appear to be falling apart.
There have been calls for a special counsel to oversee the investigation of allegations of political interference for years.
Weiss has already overseen the prosecution of the president’s scandal-stricken son.
Garland said Trump appointee Weiss had asked him on Tuesday to be named special counsel to oversee the “ongoing investigation” and oversee any other prosecutions.
The explosive development shows that Hunter’s legal troubles are far from over, and just weeks after his gun and tax plea deal collapsed dramatically.
