They are the pop sensations that respectively took the nineties by storm.
And Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean has hinted that there might still be hope for a crossover between the boy band and the Spice Girls.
The singer, 45, revealed this week that the two groups have remained friends over the years since they came together during the peak of their music careers.
Explaining that there has been talk of a joint tour, AJ noted that it had the potential to be “one of the most massive tours ever.”
The match made in pop heaven would see Victoria Beckham, Geri Horner, Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton meet on stage for the first time in 15 years.

While Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean and cousins Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson reunited again last year for a Backstreet Boys tour.
Crossover talks have been on the cards for nearly three decades, with the two groups often hinting at it but never taking the plunge.
Talking with buzz, AJ explained, ‘We’ve been really close friends with most of the girls. And in that period of time [90s]we were both on top of the world.
There have been rumors that we’re on tour together…if ever. [happens]I think it could be one of the most massive tours ever.
But when asked how likely, in percentages, the tour is, AJ confessed, “I think it’s probably in the low 30s.” Maybe 20 years. I don’t think it’s that high… Everyone has moved on, everyone is doing their own thing. But you never know’.
Bandmate Nick has remained close to Emma since the pair joined forces in 2017 for the ABC show Boyband.

Nick transformed into Emma aka Baby Spice, AJ into Mel B aka Scary Spice, Kevin as Victoria aka Posh Spice, Howie as Geri aka Ginger Spice, and Brian as Mel C. , also known as Sporty Spice.

And the girls loved the joke, too, with Mel C really in on it, as Howie previously told ET at the time: ‘Mel C recently opened a show we did in Dubai and I actually said, ‘Just to give you a heads up. … on this cruise we will dress up as you!” But it’s all for fun
Emma even tweeted at Nick while recreating one of her looks, joking that she “loved” him and wanted his dress.
The Spice Girls catapulted to global stardom in 1994 before going on hiatus in 2000 and returning briefly from 2007-2008.
Whereas the Backstreet Boys had a similar timeline and formed in 1993 and took a two-year break in 2003, before Kevin left the band three years later.
Both at the peak of their games at similar times, the two bands from different sides of the pond often passed each other in similar circles.
