Just hours after reports surfaced that Bryan Abosolo, the husband of The Bachelorette alumnus Rachel Lindsay, has filed for divorce, he released a statement about the split.
38-year-old lawyer Lindsay and 43-year-old chiropractor Abosolo first met on season 13 of The Bachelorette, with Lindsay accepting his proposal in the finale.
They married in Cancun in August 2019, although it was revealed on Tuesday that Abosolo had filed for divorce, with New Year's Eve listed as the date of separation.
Following initial reports of their separation, Abosolo confirmed the split on Tuesday with a statement on his Instagram page.
“If you have been following me for a while, you know that I do not like to post my personal business on social media and would like to maintain a safe space for our family,” Abosolo began.

“Many of you know me as a chiropractor, and also as a husband, my proudest role yet,” he continued.
“After more than four years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to separate and start over,” he said.
“My parents are married forever and I'm a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and loving your partner means letting go,” he continued.
He added, “I wanted you to hear it from the source before the blogs started making up their own reality.”
“Please respect the space of our family and friends as we determine our next steps. Respectfully, Bryan,” he concluded.
Lindsay hasn't commented publicly on the breakup, but she did make a post on New Year's Eve that began, “Definitely one of the hardest years of my life.”
She added that she is “choosing to focus on grateful moments and carry that energy into 2024.”
The couple do not share any children together, and the application mentions 'irreconcilable differences' before the split, while he also asked for spousal support.

The news comes just a few weeks after Lindsay said on a podcast that they have been living “completely different lives.”
She added that the problem was their very different careers, as he works up to 12 hours a day while she has more free time.
Speaking with DailyMail.com's Russ Weakland at Project Angel Food's fourth annual Lead With Love Fundraiser in Los Angeles in June, Rachel talked about her big plans for the year ahead.
“I'm trying to take a step back and not work as much as I leave 2023 behind – and go into 2024 with something new,” she explained.
She told DailyMail.com: 'I would like to try for a child. I would like to have a child. That's something new for 2023, hopefully that will happen in 2024.'
