Bachelor star-turned pilot Jimmy Nicholson gives his flight hacks – including how to get upgraded to business class

Jimmy Nicholson has shared trade secrets on how to get an upgrade to business class.

The Bachelor star turned pilot, 34, took to Instagram on Wednesday in a “flight-related” Q&A, inviting some of his 100,000 followers to ask him questions about air travel.

Jimmy took the time to bust a major myth about coveted business class upgrades.

“The upgrade system is based on a bidding system, so when you bid on points, my understanding is that the person who bids the most points or pays the most money gets the upgrade,” he said in his response video.

“There’s no real hack for it, they say be nice to the person checking in, but… it all happens behind the scenes,” he added.

He also gave his verdict on whether or not you should recline your seat mid-flight.

“I’m so glad someone asked this question,” the reality TV hunk began.

‘Domestic flights, don’t touch the lying position, don’t do it, that’s not necessary and it’s already tight enough.

‘It’s fair game on international flights, but I always look back a little politely to make sure someone isn’t about to eat or rest their head on the seat back.

“Be good people, people. Don’t use it to sit back bloody on domestic flights!’

The advice comes as Jimmy and partner Holly Kingston shared a beach day with their dog Billie earlier this week.

The pilot shared a series of photos and videos on Instagram Stories on Monday, showing his outing with the dog.

The old friends went for a dip on the beach before Jimmy joined his family at the outdoor table.

“There’s no real hack for it, they say be nice to the person checking in, but… it all happens behind the scenes,” he added

Jimmy explained that Billie was “in his element” after a dip, pats and a bite of some dropped breakfast food.

In 2022, Jimmy revealed the pup is not living with him and girlfriend Holly Kingston at their North Bondi home.

The Border Collie was adopted by Jimmy’s parents, the pilot said, because they have a larger home more suitable for a lively pooch.

Jimmy and Holly fell in love during the 2021 season of The Bachelor Australia.

The pair moved into an apartment together in North Bondi in September that year, shortly after the Bachelor finale aired on TV.

The couple married in August last year at Jimmy’s parents’ home in Sydney’s Palm Beach, surrounded by a small group of friends and family.
