Bachelor star Megan Marx reveals the heartbreaking reason she decided to become a Playboy model

Megan Marx has revealed the reason why she decided to become a Playboy model.

The former Bachelor star, 33, shared Fox news creating content for Playboy helped her cope after she was diagnosed with a rare degenerative neurological disease called spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA6).

Megan admitted it’s been “a stressful time,” but modeling has given her something to look forward to.

“My confidence was pretty low when I was trying to figure out your place in the world,” she said.

“I’m young and healthy, and I’m confident now, but in the end it won’t always be there for me. I just want to embrace life now and have a part of freedom and enjoying your body is making money.”

Megan shared her heartbreaking diagnosis in an Instagram post in January, assuring her fans that she remains optimistic.

‘Waiting months for the results of gene research, on Friday I had a meeting with the neurologist. Sh*t news. Diagnosis. Some tears while [Megan’s boyfriend] Keith took over the conversation,’ she began.

The blonde, who rose to fame during Ritchie Strahan’s 2016 season of The Bachelor, then revealed her remarkably positive attitude after learning she will suffer from worsening muscle control issues.

The former reality star told Fox News that creating content for Playboy helped her cope after she was diagnosed with a rare degenerative neurological disease called spinocerebellar ataxia.

“I now feel grateful for my physical body, in its current state, before neurological degeneration tries to take anything away from me,” she wrote.

“All those yays for making love and nude swimming and walking and painting and eating and bad dancing and horrible conversations in bars. I actually feel totally grateful. Many have worse diagnoses. Just some processing to do. There’s still a lot to live for,’ she concluded.

Symptoms of SCA6 can include difficulty with coordination, stumbling, imbalance, and in some cases, slurred speech.

The rare condition, which affects 1 in 100,000, has no cure and there is no specific treatment to slow or stop its progression.

However, there are several therapies that can help manage the symptoms.
