The Bachelor Nation star married Bryan Abasolo after winning season 13 of The Bachelorette in August 2017, for which Lindsay was the grand prize.
But by not taking the proper legal steps to protect her finances before getting married, the Dallas, Texas resident, who is a lawyer herself, now faces the possibility of having to pay her estranged husband’s spousal support as part of their ongoing divorce.
“A lot of people say, ‘You’re a lawyer. … Do you have a prenup?’ I don’t do that,” the reality star revealed on TV Hidden Gems with Natasha Parker podcast on Thursday.
She then explains her thought process about her inaction, revealing, “The reason I didn’t do that is because where I am now…financially…is completely different than when I got married. We were more equal, and I wasn’t in California.”

Regarding the fact that it was in “a different time” when they tied the knot in August 2019, she admitted that she led more with her heart than logic.
“I didn’t want it to be a bigger problem, so we didn’t have one,” she added. “Hindsight is 20/20. I would have done it.’
In his divorce filing in January, Abasolo listed New Year’s Eve as the date of his and Lindsay’s official separation, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation.
The petition for divorce in court after four years of marriage also states that the chiropractor is seeking spousal support.
Lindsay told podcast host Natasha Parker on Thursday’s episode that while her divorce itself was “amicable,” she felt Abasolo’s filing was “unnecessarily messy.”
The public announcement of their separation in January came less than two months after Lindsay revealed that she and Abasolo had plans to one day try to expand their family with the addition of a baby.
“It’s something we want,” the attorney shared with E! News. “It’s been harder than I thought it would be. We’re trying. You think, ‘Oh yeah, when I’m ready, I’ll do it. make it happen.” But it was just a little bit harder for us. But we are definitely starting the process.”
