Bachelor in Paradise star Jade Roper revealed she’s going through a miscarriage.

On Sunday, the reality star, 36, shared the devastating news to her more than 1.3 million Instagram followers that she suffered a missed miscarriage, which “occurs when a fetus is no longer alive, but the body doesn’t recognize the pregnancy loss.”

According to the insurance company Progynyas a result of the condition, “the placenta may continue to release hormones, so you may continue to experience signs of pregnancy.”

“I’ve struggled with what to write here while navigating a miscarriage. It felt like all my dreams came true to welcome another baby into our lives, to love our family and to complete our family,” revealed the Denver native, who is married to Tanner Tolbert. “While our hearts are completely broken and we have dealt with the deep and complex grief of the loss, we are blessed to have been touched by his soul in his short time.”

The mother-of-three continued, “I’m forever changed. I’m currently experiencing what’s called a missed miscarriage, so even though his heart has stopped and he’s stopped growing (for a while), my body hasn’t let go of the pregnancy yet.”

Jade competed on season 19 of The Bachelor and Tanner was a contestant on the 11th season of The Bachelorette, but the couple found love on the second season of Bachelor in Paradise.

The couple married on a special episode of Ben Higgin’s season of the hit ABC dating show in 2016 and now share two children.

Jade famously gave birth to her son Brooks in her bedroom closet after giving birth early, and was open about how the experience hurt her for months afterwards.

“From the time I went into labor until I got pregnant with my (second) son Reed, I was dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder,” she said.

Video shot by Tanner shows a crying Jade cradling Brooks, clearly overwhelmed as she asks if her son is okay and first responders crowd around her.

“When I went into labor I had such a steep labor that I thought something was wrong,” she told Today. ‘I thought he was going to die. I thought I was going to die.’

Jade admitted that she didn’t immediately feel connected to her new son and neglected to take good care of herself, sometimes going days without brushing her teeth.

Finally realizing she was “walking down a very dark path” she had a “breakdown” and told her husband. She began her treatment with hypnotherapy and found herself pregnant again five and a half months later.

Jade says the hormonal changes helped her mood. She also started giving herself a break and would ask for more help when she needed it – even if it just meant making sure he babysat the kids for 20 minutes so she could shower and “check in on myself” .
