Former Bachelor contestant Hailey Merkt has passed away at the age of 31 after a tragic battle with cancer.
On Tuesday, Merkt’s Instagram page posted an update with what appeared to be the first post in over two months, revealing that she had died after months of treatment for leukemia.
Merk had competed on season 21 of The Bachelor, where she competed for Nick Viall’s favor.
“It is with broken hearts that we announce that our beloved Hailey has passed away after a courageous fight for her life,” the statement began.
It said she “endured this journey with unimaginable strength, grace and selflessness” and that “her determination, courage and will to live exceeded any timeline the doctors gave her. She chose to spend her final moments surrounded by her loved ones, doing what she cherished most, with no regrets.”
