Baby you can dry my calves! Paul McCartney, 81, towels off after taking a dip in the ocean with wife Nancy, 64, during their Easter getaway to St Barts

Paul McCartney was just having a regular day out on Saturday as he enjoyed some time off with his wife Nancy after flying to St Barts for their annual Easter holiday.

The Beatles legend, 81, was spotted soaking up the Caribbean sun as he dried off after a dip in the ocean with his wife of 13 years, 64.

Wearing colorful swim shorts and a long-sleeved navy top, Paul looked incredibly relaxed as he frolicked in the ocean.

Meanwhile, Nancy wore a pink swirl print swim top and black shorts as she strolled into the water for a dip.

It comes as Paul reportedly showed his generous side by presenting a family with a six-figure sum to thank them for returning a £10million guitar after it was stolen in the 1960s.

According to The sunPaul offered this thanks to Cathy Guest, who found the four-string Höfner instrument in her loft.

Cathy received the compensation after lengthy negotiations between herself and Paul’s music publishing company MPL.

A source said: ‘They have now reached a deal and the family have been given a very significant thank you award.

‘Sir Paul has also expressed his gratitude to Cathy and the family.’

Cathy added: ‘I can’t talk about the amount, but I won’t move or do anything to change my life. My lifestyle won’t change.’

It was previously revealed last month that Paul had been reunited with the guitar, some 54 years after it was last seen when The Beatles recorded their final album, Let It Be.

The guitar, a distinctively shaped Höfner bass, became synonymous with the versatile musician during his time with The Beatles and was purchased while the then unknown band toured Hamburg’s infamous club circuit.

A young student had previously claimed that the instrument had been left to him as part of an inheritance, only to have it returned to its legendary owner.

Film buff Ruaidhri Guest shared a photo of the guitar on X, formerly Twitter, and tweeted: ‘To my friends and family I inherited this item which was returned to Paul McCartney. Share the news.’

McCartney previously said he “fell in love” with the guitar – which could now be worth as much as £10 million – because its shape made it look more symmetrical when played left-handed.

Although he put it aside during his time in the band, he picked it up again for recording sessions in London when the group recorded Let it Be.

The instrument can also be seen in Get Back, the Peter Jackson documentary released in 2021.

Höfner stepped in to help the musician in his desperate search for the instrument by creating online the hashtag ‘tracingthebass’ and invites people from all over the world to trace it.

They have been McCartney’s favorite brand throughout his career. He has owned four Höfner basses since 1961 and continues to play one of the basses donated to him by the German company to this day.

Höfner director Nick Wass told the Sunday Telegraph: ‘I’ve worked closely with Paul McCartney’s team over the years, and when I met Paul we talked about his first Höfner bass and where it might be today.

“Paul said to me, ‘Hey, since you’re from Höfner, can’t you help find my bass?’ And that was the reason for this great hunt.’

Theories about what happened to the instrument vary, from rumors that a thief took the bass from a cupboard in Abbey Road, to a story that it went missing from the basement of the Beatles offices in Savile Row.

A McCartney representative said: ‘Following the launch of last year’s Lost Bass project, Paul’s 1961 Höfner 500/1 bass guitar, which was stolen in 1972, has been returned. The guitar has been authenticated by Höfner and Paul is extremely grateful to everyone involved.’
