The parents of a baby born in India with 26 fingers and toes are calling her the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess.

The young girl, born in a hospital in Bharatpur, in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan, has seven fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot.

Although doctors have described her condition as a genetic abnormality, her family is reportedly elated and publicly calling her the reborn version of Dholagarh Devi, a well-known local deity whose temple is located near the girl’s birthplace.

Images of the deity reveal her to be a young girl with multiple arms.

The baby’s mother, named Sarju Devi, 25, is said to be delighted.

Her brother, who has not been named, told local media: “My sister gave birth to a baby with 26 fingers, and we consider it the incarnation of Dholagarh Devi. We are very happy.’

The baby’s father, Gopal Bhattacharya, is a police officer in the Central Reserve Police Force and he is also said to be very happy.

Dr. BS Soni, a doctor at the hospital where the baby was born, said, “Having 26 fingers doesn’t cause any harm, but it is a genetic defect. The girl is otherwise completely healthy.’

It is currently unknown if the family plans to have their newborn girl undergo surgery to reduce the number of fingers on each limb.

The baby’s birth comes just a few weeks after a traveler left his fellow passengers horrified when he took off his shoes and socks, revealing his extra toe.

A TikTok of the shoeless man went viral, racking up a whopping 8.1 million views and more than 14,000 comments, most of which poked fun at the unusual clip and reignited the debate over whether it’s acceptable to to walk barefoot in public.

After zooming in on their fellow jetsetter’s foot, the camera pans to the window as the plane takes off.

One commenter joked, “I’m flying out of Torontoe,” while another added, “You know he has no shortage of toe intolerance.”
