Azealia Banks is slammed by top entertainment reporter
American rapper Azealia Banks has been criticized by entertainment reporter Peter Ford for calling Australia “racist” and vowing never to return.
Banks dramatically canceled her Brisbane show at the last minute on Tuesday, saying the last time she performed there was the most “racist” and “demoralizing” experience of her life.
Veteran journalist Ford could not hide his disapproval when he reported on Banks’ outburst on Wednesday morning, telling The Morning Show: “I think he might be on some strong cough medicine.”
“She’s never coming back, we’re a racist country and she can’t wait to leave,” Ford said sarcastically.
Ford noted that Banks also vowed never to play in Israel in 2018, citing “racism”, after she was subjected to a routine security check at Ben Gurion airport.
The Israel Airports Authority stated at the time that Banks had been treated like any other tourist.

Ford continued: “She has no evidence to back up what she says, but I think she could be on strong cough medicine and not enjoy the visit at all.”
“Last year they filmed her digging up her dead cat in her backyard and then cooking it, so this is a very quirky artist,” he added.
Ford was referring to a disturbing video uploaded by Banks in January 2021 that showed the rapper exhuming the bagged remains of her dead cat.

She subsequently hit back at critics of the lurid video, accusing them of being “racist” and writing on Instagram: “This is a very unblack life, y’all business.”
Ford once again lashed out at Banks later Thursday during a radio segment on 3AWdescribing the situation as ‘very sad’.
“She does not give any examples of why she has experienced racism. But we are a racist country, apparently. And she tells her millions of followers about it, and that’s really bad for us,’ she lamented.

“It would be nice if I cited an example, but she doesn’t do that at all,” he continued, before adding, “As soon as she’s gone, the better.”
Banks, best known for her song 212, made headlines on Tuesday after she refused to play her scheduled concert in Brisbane.
In a tweet, she wrote: “So sorry guys I’m not really sorry but listen up: last time I was in Brisbane and you guys threw shit on stage and almost fucked up.” She hit me in the face with a fucking soda bottle or whatever that shit was.

“That was the most racist and demoralizing experience of my fucking life and right now I’m on a really good path.”
“I’m too far from home… I’m a beautiful black woman and I’m not going to stand in front of an audience of white people to have shit thrown at me. I’m not sorry.
I’m not sorry at all.
The incident ends a disastrous tour, after planned concerts in Melbourne and Sydney were postponed due to “visa issues”.

In 2013, Banks was attacked by Australian fans who threw objects at her onstage, later describing the Australian crowds as “violent and belligerent”.
Banks apparently agreed to play Brisbane on the 2022 tour after his initial reluctance if security measures were tightened, but later backed down claiming his requests had been ignored.
“After this race, this will be the last time I tour Australia,” he said.
“This place makes me completely miserable and I’m too black and beautiful to have a bunch of white people to my face playing me for their weak currency.”
