Kylie Walker, 48, suffered serious head and chest injuries at a private property in Ayr, south of Townsville in Queensland, at 6pm on Monday.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal Ms Walker, who is survived by her husband Darren and their two teenage daughters, grew up locally and comes from a farming family.

Mrs Walker’s death comes after tragedy almost struck the family more than a decade ago when her father-in-law, Neville Walker, a local businessman, suffered a helicopter crash in 2011.

Mr Walker, an experienced pilot, and his female passenger were on a joy flight when the plane ran into trouble and crashed into a sugar cane field in Ayr.

Mr Walker suffered critical injuries and his passenger serious injuries, with the pair being rushed to hospital in stable conditions.

Although both miraculously survived, Darren Walker told the media at the time that his father was in a ‘touch and go’ state after the accident.

Mrs Walker’s death is the second death in a week involving a lawnmower.

A man died after being trapped under a lawnmower in Tallegalla in Ipswich, southeast Queensland, on Monday.
