Awkward moment Saquon Barkley mishears a reporter’s question in press conference

Saquon Barkley left reporters confused when he misheard a question during a press conference and gave a completely unrelated answer.

On Monday, the NFL X account posted a clip of the Philadelphia Eagles running back’s confusion from the press, highlighting the miscommunication between him and the journalist.

Considering Philly’s eight-game winning streak, the reporter asked Barkley if he “ever had more fun playing football” in his life.

After giving a nervous grin, Barkley explained his season highs in fumbles: “I think I’ve reached my highest level,” he said. “Last year I had two.”

‘One last year and one this year was caused by the soil. But yeah, that was definitely a scary moment. Then the ball came out there and, you know, I was like, ‘Find a way. No matter how I can make sure I get the ball.”

Barkley is enjoying a revival season with the Eagles as they have won their last eight games

“I think it helped me,” he added. “I haven’t been this angry in the game since I was a little kid. I think this helped me get first place on the next stretch.”

A member of the press then clarified what the question meant before Barkley burst out laughing.

“I thought you said something clumsy,” he said as the audience laughed in unison.

After six years with the New York Giants that ended in frustration, Barkley is having a banner season with the City of Brotherly Love, arriving in the offseason.

Through 12 games, he has recorded 246 carries for a career-high 1,499 yards and matched his career-high 11 touchdowns from his rookie season in 2018.

The Eagles have a 10-2 record while sitting atop the NFC East. They look to extend their streak to nine games when they host the struggling Carolina Panthers on January 8.
