Prince Harry was mistaken for his older brother, Prince William, at a charity event near his California home on Friday.
The Duke of Sussex attended the annual One805Live! concert at Kevin Costner’s coastal California estate last week without his wife, Meghan Markle, who was reportedly unwell.
During the event, the father of two presented an award to local pilot Loren Courtney, joking that they both felt more comfortable in a helicopter than on stage.
Stars including Rob Lowe, Jeff Bridges and Pink attended the event to honor the heroic efforts of Santa Barbara first responders. Richard Marx was among the musicians who performed.
After performing at the charity concert, The American singer had a brief conversation with the prince. Richard’s wife Daisy Fuentes captured the conversation on camera. She then posted the conversation between the two on social media, where she had 324,000 followers.
Daisy – who is a model, comedian and former MTV host – then posted a photo of the two of them deep in conversation, but accidentally tagged the Instagram account of The Prince and Princess of Wales.

Daisy quickly corrected the error and tagged the Instagram account ‘Prince Harry of England’, which is run by a fan of the royal family and has 410,000 followers.
Prince Harry has only used Instagram publicly through the former ‘Kensington Palace’ account – which has since been rebranded as the official channel of the Prince and Princess of Wales – and SussexRoyal, which has been inactive since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as working royals in 2020.
The second misstep Richard and Daisy made was when the singer almost didn’t recognize the prince when he first walked by.
After finishing his performance, the American singer left the stage, but he almost missed Prince Harry, who was there to congratulate him on his performance.
Richard’s wife Daisy captured the moment, filming the awkward encounter between the unsuspecting singer and the prince.
As can be heard in the clip, the pop singer was quickly alerted by backstage staff to the prince, who had initially gone unnoticed.
They alerted the performer and quickly shouted “Richard, Prince Harry” while pointing at the duke. Before the clip ends, the royal can be heard saying: “Hey! Well done.”

Meghan joined Prince Harry at the charity event last year and guests had hoped the Duchess would be there again. However, a source told the Mirror: ‘The story goes that she was ill and couldn’t come.’
Last weekend, the prince attended a dinner hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in New York. However, his wife Meghan had not yet appeared in public.
However, the queen was present Mathilde of Belgiumactor Forest Whitaker, several heads of UN agencies and other dignitaries, for an event honoring survivors of child violence.
They are all in New York for the UN General Assembly, which starts Monday morning in Manhattan.
Officials from countries such as Sweden, Colombia, Zimbabwe, Georgia, Canada, Iceland and Brazil were also present.

Also in attendance were well-known figures such as Whitaker and Shudu Musida, who, together with survivors, wrote an open letter last week urging world leaders to take urgent action to end violence against children.
This comes ahead of the first-ever global ministerial conference on ending violence against children, which will take place in Colombia in November.
Signatories to the letter included Harry, Mathilde and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, who spoke extensively with the Duke of Sussex and actor during the event.
