Awkward moment MSNBC host asks Jill Biden about Republicans attacking the Biden ‘CRIME FAMILY’ – as the First Lady laughs and brushes off ‘extremists’

An MSNBC host got a startled laugh from Dr. Jill Biden during a live broadcast when she asked the First Lady about Republican attacks labeling them as the “Biden crime family.”

During Thursday morning’s edition of Morning Joe, host Mika Brzezinski spoke with Dr. Biden for an exclusive interview.

“What do you think when you hear Trump Republicans calling you the Biden crime family?” Brzezinski asked, pausing as the 72-year-old burst into fits of laughter.

“I have one member of Congress: The Biden crime family has sold out America, Marjorie Taylor Greene,” she continued, referencing the Georgia Republican’s previous comments. ‘He’s a liar. He is mentally incompetent.’

Biden shook her head in disbelief.

Brzezinski asked the 72-year-old about Republicans labeling her husband “a liar” and “mentally incompetent,” prompting a startled laugh from Biden

The First Lady called the 2024 presidential race “scary” and expressed disbelief that the United States had witnessed an insurrection during the January 6 riots.

“And let’s not even talk about what ‘Let’s go, Brandon’ means, but you have U.S. senators holding signs that say that,” Brzezinski said.

The slogan dates back to 2021, when NASCAR fans chanted “F*** Joe Biden” during winner Brandon Brown’s post-race interview but were misheard by a reporter.

It has since become the rallying cry of the president’s MAGA opponents, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz was once spotted posing with a sign with the motto at a baseball game.

“It’s hard to realize our country, isn’t it?” said the First Lady. “I mean, to look at what we used to have, and what the other side, the extremists, have made of this country.”

Just ten years ago, “we would never see things like that,” she explained.

“This must be so different from any race you and your husband have run,” Brzezinski said, which Biden confirmed.

“It’s a little scary,” the teacher admitted. “I think it’s not just for me and Joe, but just to see what happened.”

She continued, “I mean, look at the riot that happened. I mean, it’s so hard to believe that the United States of America witnessed an uprising. I think the Americans were just stunned by that.”

Biden and Brzezinski discussed the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, with Brzezinski mentioning that former President Donald Trump characterized the rioters as “hostages.”

The 72-year-old said Trump entering the presidential race made her “want to be in the fight even more,” adding, “We have to win.” We cannot let go of our democracy’

“I suspect they’re being held hostage by the frontrunner, the Republican frontrunner,” Brzezinski said, referring to former President Donald Trump’s long-running defense of the Capitol rioters on Jan. 6.

“Or patriots, you know, like him — he doesn’t call them what they were, insurrectionists, dangerous extremists,” Biden said.

“And you still want to join the battle?” Brzezinski asked.

“Oh, that makes me want to join the fight even more, because we have to win,” Biden said. ‘We have to win. We cannot let go of our democracy.’

Similar concerns, including that a second Trump presidency would function like a dictatorship, have only been heightened by the former president’s recent comments.

Following his election conclusion hearing on January 9, the 77-year-old spoke to reporters at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC, formerly the Trump International Hotel.

“A president should enjoy immunity,” he said. “And the other thing was, I didn’t do anything wrong. We have done nothing wrong.’

He then argued for immunity for all presidents, stressing that this would set a “very bad precedent” if he were successfully prosecuted.

“When they talk about the threat to democracy, that’s your real threat to democracy,” Trump said of the case against him. ‘And I think that as president you should have immunity. Very easy.’

He insisted he had done “absolutely nothing wrong,” adding, “And I have worked very hard on voter fraud because we need to have free elections.”

A day before the interview, Biden’s son, Hunter, made a surprise appearance at a meeting of the Oversight and Accountability Committee.

In a tweet, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called the Bidens “the Biden Crime Family” and claimed Hunter “fled the scene” while she was talking.

The First Lady briefly mentioned her son during Thursday’s interview, calling Republicans’ treatment of him “cruel” amid several ongoing investigations

A day later, President Biden’s son Hunter made a surprise appearance at a House Oversight and Accountability Committee markup.

That day, the committee passed a resolution charging him with contempt of Congress for failing to respond to a request to testify before the House of Representatives last month.

He left the room when Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican and devout Trump supporter, happened to be speaking.

“WOW – Hunter Biden fled the scene when I started exposing the truth behind the Biden Crime Family,” Greene later tweeted.

‘Too bad his father can’t save him this time. We have mountains of evidence of the Biden family’s corruption and foreign influence peddling, and there will be accountability for these crimes.”

Hunter Biden’s daughter Naomi hit back at the rep on social media, writing, “Basically it looks like everyone fled the scene when she started lying.”

During Thursday’s broadcast, the First Lady herself briefly referred to her son and condemned the attacks against him, overseen by the Justice Department and members of Congress.

“I think what they’re doing to Hunter is cruel, and I’m really proud of the way Hunter has rebuilt his life after his addiction,” she said. “I love my son, and it hurt my grandchildren.”
