Avengers stars led by Scarlett Johansson mocked for video saying Kamala Harris is ‘down with democracy’

Avengers! To assemble! To record an excruciatingly awkward Kamala Harris endorsement video.

Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Danai Gurira, Don Cheadle and Paul Bettany released a collaboration that’s half cringe, half comedy.

The stars of the Marvel ‘Avengers’ series wanted to make their political support for the Democrat known just before the elections.

In the nearly two-minute video, the Hollywood actors discuss coming up with a new slogan for Harris, ultimately arriving at the purposefully ill-conceived one: “Down with democracy.”

The comedy period didn’t seem to go over well and social media users immediately pounced mercilessly on the clearly scripted political stunt.

“Down with democracy,” Johansson cheers in the bizarre campaign ad

“The cast of the Avengers, who now all look like they have terminal illnesses… Say ‘down with democracy’ and ‘abort democracy’ in support of Kamala,” comedian Tim Youg wrote on X.

“This isn’t turning out quite the way they intended.”

“This caused me so much shame,” wrote X user Dr. Sydney Watson.

Another girl Blaire White wrote: ‘Oh look, the people who are literally paid to lie are having thoughts about our upcoming election.’

“Chris Evans – You are Captain America – not Captain Communist… Extremely sad,” said another story.

“It sounds like we know where Hollywood stands. This is embarrassing, fake and cringe,” wrote another.

The video starts with Johansson: “Hi guys. “Hello Avengers!”

‘Woah, woah, woah, I think you mean editing!’ Cheadle makes lame jokes.

After some clearly written back and forth between the actors, the group begins to come up with ideas for a tagline for Kamala Harris.

After all, Robert Downey Jr., aka Iron Man, suggested it.

Later, the actor who plays the robot voice JARVIS in the series, Paul Bettany, comes up with a bright idea.

“How about: ‘I don’t feel like democracy,'” he suggests. “It’s just clean and simple.”

After some banter back and forth between the stars, they start joking that Kamala Harris is “down with democracy.”

Mark Ruffalo – the Hulk – then notes that the phrasing sounds a bit off.

“But I don’t know if that sounds the way we want it to sound,” he requests.

The stars continue to joke around with the phrase before the video ends and tells the audience to vote in the November 5 election.

The strange video of the stars endorsing Harris days before the election is just the latest crop of celebrities brought in by the Democratic campaign.

Recently, Harris has made stops with Beyonce and Bruce Springsteen.

Megastar Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez have also endorsed Harris.
