Avatar: The Way Of Water continues to break record numbers.

James Cameron directed the sequel to Avatar is now the fifth highest-grossing film of all time, generating a staggering $2.054 billion at the worldwide box office according to Deadline.

It comes after the 68-year-old filmmaker recently made history as the only director with three films to top $2 billion at the global box office.

The highly anticipated movie took the place of Avengers: Infinity War on Thursday, which had won $2.052 billion globally, after launching in 2018.

The new achievement now gives Cameron three of the top five highest-grossing movies of all time.

Cameron’s other two films on the illustrious list include the original Avatar (2009), which is number one of all time, with $2.923 billion on a budget of $237 million, and Titanic (1997), after it grossed $2.195 billion. million against a budget of $200 million.

The top two movies on the list are Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion), while the original Avatar is in first place.

Cameron had previously announced plans for three more installments in 2024, 2026 and 2028, but stipulated that the last two would be contingent on commercial reception for The Way Of Water.
