Australia’s most X-rated reality TV show is set to bring in than $3million to Queensland’s economy

Aussie Shore has caused controversy since it hit the screens as it was the raunchiest reality TV show ever to hit Australia.

However, the X-rated spin-off of British reality TV show Geordie Shore could add as much as $3 million to Queensland’s coffers.

The steamy series, filmed in Cairns, has received state government support and could give Queensland a huge boost.

The Paramount+ show, hosted by Charlotte Crosby, has received funding from Steven Miles’ Labor government, according to the industry blog Television tonight.

The funding came through film agency Screen Queensland through its Production Attraction Incentive, also known as PAS.

The scheme supports projects that ‘meet economic, industrial, tourism and community benefits,” a report said.

Aussie Shore is reportedly eligible for funding under PAS and is now expected to deliver $3 million to the Queensland economy.

The show was partly produced at the Screen Queensland Cairns studio in Portsmith, used multiple locations across Far North Queensland and created as many as 100 jobs for cast and crew.

Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney told TV Tonight that Aussie Shore will help show off Cairns and that the region has been instrumental in supporting the sex program.

“We’re not trying to step into the shoes of all the other people who creatively reviewed the project,” she explained.

“We’re really trying to assess whether the benefits accrue to the industry in Queensland.”

She also continued to insist that the steamy show complies with the Code of Conduct and refused to discuss issues of ‘taste’ regarding the programme.

“I’m not going to get into the taste issues, but I want to make sure that as a production it works ethically, that it delivers exactly what it says it will deliver, that it delivers,” she explained.

Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, who recently hosted the spin-off said the antics of the Australian cast make the original series look tame in comparison.

In the first two episodes, the cast of 11 Australian housemates have already shocked viewers with explicit sex scenes, full frontal nudity and a ‘p**s transplant’ – which saw contestants urinate on each other in the pool.

Despite the wild sex scenes that viewers see on screen, producers had a list of very ‘strict’ duty of care rules when it came to dating in the stock house.

Any non-cast members who wanted to spend the night with someone they met on a night out were required to complete robust security and background checks before setting foot in the property.

They also had to be sober to enter the lavish rental home, located on Hibiscus Lane in Holloways Beach, and agree to appear on camera.

“It’s a long, detailed process,” Aussie Shore’s executive producer Dan Sheldon told news.com.au.

‘They must also have the appropriate written consent, and there is a 20-minute cooling-off period. It’s very strict. Cheeky.’

Sarah Thornton, head of Popular Factual at Network 10 for Paramount ANZ, said some other shows in the ‘Shore’ reality franchise do not allow the cast to bring in outsiders.

She admitted that filming the cast members in the party house without outsiders involved was already a “logistical nightmare.”

She explained: “I guess I would say there’s a sense of real freedom and a bubble of freedom around the cast, and then there’s a lot of people working incredibly hard on very serious things to make sure they’re in that bubble sitting. a way that is really safe.’
