Australia’s dumbest criminals: Thugs broke into a Melbourne house and viciously beat up a man – before realizing they had the wrong house

  • Two Melbourne men have reported a violent home invasion
  • Victim Robert was left with a basilar skull fracture and a broken arm
  • The police suspect that the burglars attacked the wrong house

Two youths have been charged with a violent home burglary in which a man suffered a broken skill and a broken arm in a case of mistaken identity.

Victoria Police have arrested a 21-year-old man from Box Hill and another man, 18, from Kilsyth over the incident and beat them with home invasion charges.

Three masked intruders dressed in black broke into the Ringwood East home on June 15 last year through a back door.

One of the attackers was armed with a single-barreled rifle.

A man in the property, Robert, 50, who did not want his full name used, was awakened by the sound of the men breaking in.

The trio attacked Robert and demanded to know the location of a safe.

They stamped on Robert’s head during the vicious attack before ransacking the house.

The men stole a cell phone, wallet and personal safe before fleeing the scene in a sedan.

Robert suffered a broken skill and ribs, a broken arm, loss of vision in his left eye, and bruising and swelling on his face and body.

He has not been home since the attack and has put his property up for sale.

Detectives revealed in March that they believe the intruders attacked the wrong house.

They have arrested the two youths and are currently looking for more suspects.
