- Woman says her Kmart air fryer exploded, causing an electrical fire in her home
- She and her family are now homeless and some items are ‘damaged’
A Queensland woman recounted the terrifying moment her house caught fire after her Kmart deep fryer suddenly exploded.
Lexi posted on Tik Tok that the appliance, which he had had for three years, was ‘not in use or turned on’ at the time it caught fire.
“My partner was in the house and he ran away,” Lexi said in her video.
“We don’t have a home right now, and our stuff is damaged, but he’s alive.”
The damage to the rental property was so severe that the couple were forced to leave just 72 hours after the incident, staying with friends.
Lexi, from Queensland, said her Kmart air fryer exploded when not in use, setting her house on fire. She and her partner are now temporarily homeless.
“My partner was in the house at the time and he did what he could to try to stop the fire and then he made the call to leave and call triple-0, and thank God he made that decision…” he said.
“It was less than a minute before I couldn’t see anything in the house and the floors were very slippery because of the ash, from what you can see on the roof it’s very black, that’s the whole front of our house. home”.
“The smoke has reached the bottom and is in everything, the ash is in everything in the back of the house.
Everything is black.

Lexi said she’s had Kmart’s 5.3-liter air fryer, which is rated 4.9/5 stars based on 133 online reviews, for several years without any problems.
“I had my deep fryer for three years and nothing had happened until Thursday,” he said.
She said the incident had been an opportunity to remind and inform others of the importance of “proper fire etiquette” in the event of a home electrical fire.
Recounting the ‘trauma’ she and her partner Max had suffered from the accident, Lexi said he had ‘not slept since that day’.

They have been clashing with their peers ever since, ‘relying solely on the good nature of (their) friends’.
“Get out of the house, your belongings, your things, they are not as important as you are to your loved ones,” he said.
