Australian TV commentator baffles as he addresses WILD conspiracy theory about Stevie Wonder – and how it involves Shaquille O’Neal
An Australian TV commentator has discussed a wild conspiracy theory about Stevie Wonder.
Rob McKnight became the latest person to bizarrely suggest Stevie Wonder isn’t actually blind during a conversation on 2GB’s Nights with John Stanley on Tuesday.
During a discussion about conspiracy theories, TV pundit Rob said he believes the American music icon, 74, is not completely blind.
Conspiracy theories on this subject have been circulating for years, and Rob referenced a video of Stevie grabbing a microphone during a performance with Paul McCartney.
Speaking to host John, he said: ‘If you search for “Stevie Wonder catches microphone stand”, I think he did a concert with Paul McCartney, he was there with a few other big names.

Conspiracy theories on the subject have been circulating for years and TV pundit Rob said he believes the American music icon (pictured in 2018), 74, is not completely blind.
“Anyway, he was out there singing and the microphone stand starts falling over and Stevie Wonder looks at it and grabs it and puts it back up.”
“By the way, I believe the moon landing happened, I’m not a conspiracy theorist,” he insisted.
Rob then recalled a story NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal told in 2019 when he doubled down on his theory.
“Ask Shaquille O’Neal. “There is audio on YouTube of Shaquille O’Neal telling the story of not being blind,” he said.
Shaquille previously told how Stevie greeted him in an elevator and jokingly suggested the singer wasn’t completely blind.

In 2019, Shaquille (pictured this month) jokingly suggested that Stevie wasn’t completely blind after greeting him in an elevator by saying, “What’s up, Shaq?”
He said in 2019: “So we live in a building on Wilshire. So you park your car and the parking attendant is down there. So I’m already in the building, I’m coming through the lobby.
‘Door opens, it’s Stevie Wonder. He comes in and says, ‘What’s up, Shaq?’ Presses the button.’
‘Real. He got in the elevator and said, ‘What’s up, Shaq? How are you, big dog?” he added.
Commenting on Shaquille’s story, Rob wondered, “How did Stevie Wonder know it was Shaq?” How did Stevie Wonder know which button to go to? He didn’t mess around.’
He then justified his theory by pointing out that he thinks Stevie is legally blind, but has still retained some vision, rather than having suffered complete vision loss.
Music icon Stevie (pictured in 2022) was born six weeks premature and complications led to his blindness shortly after birth
‘Here’s my thing. “I think he’s probably legally blind, but we always thought he was completely blind,” he continued.
“We all know Reggie [Birds] from Big Brother, she’s legally blind but she can still see to some extent so I guess that’s it.
“I’m a bit tongue-in-cheek when I say he’s not blind, but he’s not blind – he’s legally blind and there’s a difference.”
