Rita Myrsel Lubin: Australian tourist in Bali is killed in horrific freak accident that saw her fall down a set of stairs into a glass wall

A 77-year-old Australian has died in Bali after falling down a flight of stairs and hitting a window.

A local news outlet has identified Rita Myrsel Lubin as the victim of Sunday afternoon’s horrific fall in the southeastern part of the island.

It is understood that Ms Lubin was staying at Villa Seriska Satu in Sanur with her 54-year-old son, Louis Jean Francois Lubin, and other relatives.

Spokesman Ketut Sukadi said Ms Lubin was walking through the Sindhu Night Market on her way to the beach when she “lost her balance” around 12pm.

“As the victim went down the stairs, she lost her body balance and fell against a glass wall in one of the art shops,” he said.

“Locals at the market immediately helped the victim and tried to call the victim’s son at his villa.

“The victim’s son immediately took the victim to the nearest hospital, Bali Mandara Hospital. However, the victim died because she lost too much blood.’

Mr Lubin reported the incident to local police on Monday and arranged for his mother’s body to be returned to Australia.
