Social media-obsessed Australians are now paying up to $1,400 to get a picture-perfect shot in “selfie studios” using backdrops, professional lighting and props.
Dana Grigg, who founded the Mimmynvovo studio in Rosebery, a Sydney suburb, said she wanted to create “a safe and fun place where influencers and content creators could come regularly to create content.”
“There’s nothing worse than having a plain background or it’s raining outside when you’re trying to take a picture,” she told the Daily telegram.
With spaces big and small and a wide variety of props and scenes to pose for, no one will stand in front of a blank wall and hope for the best.

The concept has come a long way since the word “selfie” was first coined by Australian Nathan Hope in 2002, who posted a photo online with the caption “sorry about the focus, it was a selfie.”
Pricing for a four-hour half-day shoot at the studio starts at $440, while a full-day 10-hour session at the premier studio costs a whopping $1400.
But it’s not just influencers who use selfie studios.
‘All ages thoroughly enjoy the studio. We’ve got a ball pit, a Barbie box, neon lights everywhere, and a giant swing,” Mrs. Grigg said.
Crowds of ordinary people also book time with friends, often during school holidays.
To keep things fresh, Ms. Grigg regularly changes the layout of the studio so there’s something new to see.
While much of her business comes from influencers, agencies, and brands, clients have also asked to host birthdays and engagement parties there.

Toy influencer Lulu, 12, said she loved going to Mimmynvovo because it was a safe and quiet place where she won’t be judged.
Her mother Mona said the variety of themes available made the studio convenient.
No need to rearrange furniture or drive around to find a good location. It’s all there,’ she said.
