Australian pro basketball star Ben Simmons tries to offload his California mansion by slashing millions from the price tag

Australian NBA star Ben Simmons has slashed $6 million in the price of a California retreat he has been trying to pay off for two years.

Located in a gated community in Hidden Hills, 28 miles from Los Angles, the sprawling seven-bedroom ultra-modern ‘ranch’ first hit the market in 2022 for an eye-watering $32.5 million (approximately US$23 million).

The 27-year-old Brooklyn Nets champion, who famously dated model Kendall Jenner, is now hoping for a sale after listing it for $26,820,884 (approximately $17,495,000).

Located on 1.5 acres in a secluded gated community, the mansion will go under the hammer next month, with bidding expected to start between $7 million and $12 million, reports Domain.

Simmons purchased the property in 2021 for $23.3 million (US$17.5 million).

It comes after Simmons’ NBA career has been significantly hampered by injuries since he was drafted first overall in 2016 and missed his entire rookie season due to a foot injury.

His health problems continued, with back and knee injuries leading to significant absences, including being sidelined for the entire 2021–22 season and parts of other seasons.

Despite a brief return to form, recurring back problems continued to haunt Simmons, limiting his playing time and causing him to be ruled out for the season several times, most recently in the 2023–24 season after playing just 15 games.
