An ex-student arrested over a stabbing at the Australian National University has been revealed to be the same man accused of killing five of his classmates at the same university six years ago.
Alex Ophel, 24, has been taken into custody after two female students were stabbed at the ANU in Canberra just before 3pm on Monday.
The two women, both aged 20, were taken to hospital after emergency services arrived on the scene. One is in critical condition, the other is in stable condition.
A 34-year-old man was also assaulted and suffered minor injuries. He was not taken to hospital.
Mr Ophel has not been charged in connection with the incident.
