A family is torn apart after a young mother suddenly had a ‘fit’ in bed while on holiday in Bali and stopped breathing – just weeks after the death of her newborn son.
Stacey and Danny Singles were with their children Audrey and Connor in a rented villa in Denpasar, in the south of the Indonesian island, on Monday morning when the Brisbane mother began to suffocate.
Her husband performed CPR for about half an hour while their local nanny called an ambulance, before paramedics took over on the way to the hospital.
Doctors did everything they could to save her life, but it was too late.
Her death marked the second tragedy for the family in just three months, after their six-week-old son Cooper died of a genetic condition in May.

About a week before they left, Ms. Singles asked for babysitting recommendations and specified that they should know CPR
The family had previously holidayed in Bali and were nearing the end of their three week trip when Ms Singles died.
In mid-July, about a week before they left, the mother of three took to Facebook to ask for babysitting recommendations in Seminyak and Sanur.
In her post, she noted that the sitter “must know first aid, CPR, and be able to swim.”
On Tuesday, the day after the tragedy, Mr Singles wrote a message on Facebook to tell his friends.
“My beautiful wife Stacey Singles passed away and is now with our beautiful boy Cooper in heaven,” he wrote.
“She was in bed in our villa in Bali, Stacey had a seizure and stopped breathing. I tried everything to save her.’
“The doctors tried everything they could, but it was too late.”
“Myself, Connor and Audrey love you so much.”
In another post, he said the situation was like a “cruel nightmare”: “I just wake up and you’re here,” he said.
Caitlin Patterson, a close friend, has one GoFundMe campaign to ease the financial strain on the family.

“No family should ever have to go through this – Danny and the kids must return home without their beautiful Stacey,” she wrote.
Navigating life and coming back to reality is going to be extremely difficult for Danny, Connor and Audrey.
“We’re asking for help for Danny and their beautiful children as they settle in, pay their bills, figure out how to move on and live a life without her.”
Ms Singles was open about the loss of her son, Cooper – she often took to Instagram to talk about his condition and the loss of her family.
“Our beautiful sweet Coops has been diagnosed with a rare genetic malformation called SCN2A,” she wrote in May.
“Because of how bad it is…he will never come home with us and will join his family in the stars.”
Mutations of the SCN2A gene are commonly associated with early-onset epilepsy and have been associated with autism spectrum disorder and developmental delay.
In the days following her death, friends and family flooded social media with tributes.
Her cousin wrote on Instagram, “My beautiful cousin, the strongest woman I know. How can this be true, this is not how it should be.’
“Your heart was just so strong, stronger than it needed to be, until it just got too much.”
