A worker has sadly passed away at a mining site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The tragic incident occurred at around 4 p.m. Monday at Mineral Resources’ Onslow Iron project, but details of exactly what happened remain unclear.
The WA Police Department along with the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety have been notified of the contractor’s death at the Ken’s Bore site.

Mining operations have since been suspended while an investigation is underway.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by this tragedy,” said MinRes Director Chris Ellison.
“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and the entire Onslow Iron team, and our focus is on supporting them through this difficult time.”
The mining company and the contractor company now say they are working together to support those affected.
“MinRes is working with the contractor to provide care and support to the family and construction team,” a statement said.
“MinRes’ Employee Assistance Program service provider and senior company leadership have been mobilized to the site.”
