An Australian man has filmed himself yelling at a man during an alleged robbery attempt in a ‘sketchy area’ of Los Angeles – in what he claims is his DIY way of deterring thieves.
TikTok user Turan Salis, 20, who goes by the name shearingshedvlogs online, is seen in the video being confronted by two men while driving down a Los Angeles bike path.
“Hey, hey, slow down, slow down,” one of the men says as he approaches the young Aussie.
“Are you from here?” he asks.
Mr. Salis angrily calls back to the man, “Oi! Why are you talking to me?!’

The man then asks the TikTok user if he has any money.
“Are you trying to start something?” continues Mr. Salis in a raised voice.
The man then demands that the Aussie “get off the bike” while grabbing hold of it.
“Oi!” shouts Mr. Salis again.
“Yes, get off the bike,” the man replies.
The man’s friend then says something to him, prompting him to let go of Mr. Salis’ bicycle.
“Oh, he’s with you? My bad,” he says to the other man.
Mr. Salis swears to himself before driving off.
The TikTok user suggested in the clip’s caption that people should raise their voices when approached in America.
“You need to make your voice heard when talking to someone who approaches you in nebulous areas because strangers don’t really come up to you and have a friendly talk about the weather like we do in Australia,” he wrote.

Mr. Salis’ bizarre TikTok clip has been viewed more than two million times.
Some users applauded his fortitude during the robbery attempt.
“You stayed very calm and under pressure bro, well done,” one wrote.
“De-escalation skills are on point.” said another.
But other viewers criticized Mr. Salis for the way he approached the situation.
“Chill bro, you get shot for acting like this,” one viewer commented.
A second wrote: “If you do this to the wrong man, you will be beaten.”
“The other guy protected you more than the yelling,” another added.
Mr. Salis, who worked as a sheep shearer in Australia, spends his time traveling to different countries and vlogging about his experiences.
