Australian man who suddenly died at Bali’s airport is identified

An Australian man who died at Bali airport has been identified.

Joseph Fisher, 53, from Darwin, fell unconscious in the arrivals hall of Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar just before noon on Wednesday.

According to Nyoman Darsana, spokesman for the airport police, the man suddenly fainted in front of the Telkomsel counter in the arrivals hall.

“Airline security immediately called the airport quarantine agency’s medical team after the incident,” he said.

‘A few minutes later, two medical teams from the agency arrived. They tried to save the victim by performing CPR.’

Mr. Fisher was rushed to BIMC Hospital in Bali but could not be saved. His cause of death is not yet known.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing assistance to Mr Fisher’s family.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time,” a spokesperson said.

‘Due to our privacy obligations, we are unable to comment further.’
