Perth tradie Jayme Altieri killed motorbike crash in the Philippines

An Australian artist has tragically died in a horrific motorcycle accident just a day before he was due to return to Australia for work.

Jayme Altieri, 41, from Western Australia, died on August 18 after suffering serious head injuries while returning from a dinner in Bohol, a province in the Philippines.

It appears he was wearing a helmet at the time.

His brother Scott told 7news.com.au that the tragedy was a huge shock and a great loss to the family.

Mr Altieri, a FIFO rope access boilermaker born in Rockingham, is one of seven siblings.

He is known for his “mischievous smile, drinking lots of tequila and having a good time.”

Mr. Altieri spent his life traveling throughout North America, Europe and Asia. He was also a thrill seeker who skydived hundreds of times.

“Once he had an idea in his head, you couldn’t stop him,” his brother recalls.

Mr Altieri’s parents flew to the Philippines to collect his remains.

A fundraising campaign has been launched to help Mr. Altieri’s family following Mr. Altieri’s passing.

“Hey guys, unfortunately we lost a friend in a tragic motorcycle accident in the Philippines,” said the GoFundMe page said.

“Let’s pass the hat around to help Jayme’s family during this difficult time.”

A vigil will be held at the Rockingham Naval Association on September 8.

Mr Altieri’s brother has set up a Facebook page where people can share photos in memory of his brother.

“This is a place where anyone can leave photos, messages or a story about Jayme,” he wrote.

“Nothing is off-limits because we all know he wasn’t. I’m going to go through them all and set it up so we can show them at his last big party.”

Mr Altieri’s death also prompted an outpouring of tributes from his friends.

“Friends who were privileged to know Jayme Altieri are still in shock to hear of his untimely passing. We will miss you bro. Rest in peace,” one wrote.

“We express our deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time,” the ministry said in a statement.
