Australian Idol star Courtney Murphy, 45, shares heartwarming update after admitting he’s ‘in the fight for his life’ with tragic diagnosis
Former Australian Idol favourite Courtney Murphy has taken the courageous step of returning to performing and recording after being diagnosed with advanced bowl cancer.
Courtney, 45, who shot to fame on the singing competition in 2004, revealed in April he was battling the cruel disease.
After undergoing surgery and chemotherapy, musician Courtney surprised fans with a show in Freemantle, WA earlier this month.
And now it looks like Courtney is set to release new music with his band The Murphy Brothers.
Courtney and his siblings Chris and Kieran Murphy will release a new single on July 3, called Perfect Little Mess.
The brothers also have a new album ready, called Something in the Water.
“With all the love and support we’ve received over the past few months, it’s great to be able to share some new music,” Chris shared Perth now.
“Courtney is really proud of this album, we all are. It was a lot of fun to make and Courtney did a phenomenal job. He steals the show, of course.”

The beloved singer’s brothers, Kieran and Chris, shared the devastating news about Courtney’s battle with cancer via a GaFundMe page launch in April.
“Our beautiful brother Courtney Murphy is facing the fight of his life,” his family began on the fundraising page.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share that Court has been diagnosed with advanced stage colon cancer. It’s very serious.

“Many of you will know Courtney for his amazing musical talent and his amazing voice,” the heartbreaking statement continued.
‘We think it’s fair to say he’s been entertaining West Aussies for thirty years – whether as a wide-eyed boy in Australian Idol, on stage in We Will Rock You, or just with us – his brothers – in Murphy’s Lore. and The Murphy Brothers.
‘As a self-employed musician with a wife and three young children, Courtney will be unable to work for the foreseeable future, leaving his young family fighting much harder than we would like.
‘Anyone who knows Courtney knows his heart is as big as his voice and we’ve set up this GoFundMe page in hopes of helping to ease the burden on his young family.

“All money generated will go directly to Courtney Murphy, his wife Jane and children as they navigate the difficult road ahead,” the report concluded.
As of Saturday, June 29, Courtney’s GoFundMe has raised nearly $140,000.
The shocking news comes after the Murphy family lost their father to brain cancer.
‘We lost our father in January to a brain tumor. Now Court is fighting for his own life,” said brother Chris.
