Australian Idol judges break family boy band’s heart by only choosing two of the four members: ‘We’re cutting off the bits we don’t want’
Australian Idol judges shocked a family boy band during Tuesday’s episode by choosing just two of the four members to advance to the next round.
Judges Kyle Sandilands, 52, Marcia Hines, 70, and Amy Shark, 37, spoke to three brothers and a cousin from Brisbane who wanted to audition as a group.
However, Kyle laid down the law and said they had to audition separately and then be judged on an individual basis.
“We have a format where it’s Idol, no idols, there’s no group of guys,” he told them.
The boys said they were okay with that and then all sang a song for the judges, saying they hoped they could all get through it.

Kyle didn’t hold back when he heard the four boys perform and said some cuts needed to be made.
‘Some are better than others. It is like circumcision: we cut off the pieces whose greatness we do not want to preserve,” he said.
The judges only told Eli and Caleb that they would advance to the next round, while Isaac and Jacob did not make the cut.

The two who missed it were so excited to see their family moving forward that they immediately hugged them.
It comes after host Ricki-Lee Coulter burst into tears during Monday’s episode of the show after hearing a contestant’s heartbreaking acoustic song.
The judges were talking to 18-year-old Shaylee Gear from the Gold Coast, who told them she would be performing Adele’s ballad Make You Feel My Love.
The judges had made the tough decision that only two of the four boys would advance to the next round
“My father passed away when I was just four years old and I hope he would be proud of me auditioning for Australian Idol,” she told the judges.
‘He has been one of the biggest inspirations for my singing career.’
She then performed a perfect and heartbreaking version of Bob Dylan’s pop classic, which was covered by many artists, including Adele and Ronan Keating.
Ricki-Lee, 38, was seen crying as he watched Gear perform and sobbed: “It’s so beautiful.”
The jury then said they were only interested in Eli (right) and Caleb (second from left)
