Australian driver Jai Brooks films creepy sound while staying at caravan park in Bonnie Doon
When a “strange, eerie” noise echoed over a river in a desolate regional Victorian town, Jai Brooks immediately pulled out his phone to film.
The 44-year-old and his family were cleaning out their old caravan park cabin in Bonnie Doon after deciding to sell it.
‘We were pretty much done with all the work and were killing some time before heading to the pub for dinner. So my two brothers and I decided to go down and look at the water,” Jai told FEMAIL.
“We had only been there a few minutes when one of my brothers said, ‘Do you hear that?'”
A confrontational, eerie sound seemingly coming from the nearby hill began to grow louder, frightening the four family members.
Looking at each other with puzzled looks, Jai pulled out his phone to record the sound and shared the footage on TikTok, which has since caught the attention of thousands.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology was unable to comment or advise on the questionable sound and it remains a mystery. Some believe it reverberates from a tunnel far away, while others think it is a jet sound “bouncing off the water.”
Others have accused Jai of dubbing a sound over the video.

Aussie driver Jair Brooks recorded a strange noise echoing over a river in Bonnie Doon, Victoria, 100 miles northeast of Melbourne
The confrontational, eerie noise seemingly coming from the nearby hill began to grow louder, frightening the four family members
“At first it sounded like it was coming from the other side of the lake, where the hills are. But when it got louder, we couldn’t tell because it was all around us,’ Jai said.
“To be honest, none of us had any idea what the noise was. We have been there many times over the years and have never heard anything like it.
“It probably took about 2 minutes all together.”
The video itself is pretty amazing to hear as Jai, his two brothers and mother stand stunned at the water’s edge.
“What the f*** is that sound?” Can’t you hear that?’ Jai said in the minute-long video, turning to his mom to make sure she can hear it too.
‘What is it?’ she asked, and Jai replied, “I have no idea. I don’t see anything, but I definitely hear it. Are they aliens?’
After sharing the video, hundreds shared their thoughts on what the sound might be.
“Is it the sound of a fighter jet bouncing out of the water? pretty creepy,” one suggested, another added, “Is there a bridge or tunnel? Traffic?’
A third left a specific comment, writing: “It is the result of megafrequency waves directed at our ionosphere. There are 144,000 Christmas tree antennas acting as an array in Murchison, WA’.
Anyway, others were shocked.
“If I heard this sound, I wouldn’t stick around to find out,” one of them admitted.
“I’ve seen quite a few of these videos over the past few weeks and not just in Australia,” said another.
“To be honest, none of us had any idea what the noise was. We’ve been there many times over the years and never heard anything like it,” Jai said
The town of Bonnie Doon has a population of about 2,880 and the caravan park itself was abandoned, so the idea that the noise was coming from traffic, a nearby tunnel or a jet plane was highly unlikely.
Jai said he and his family weren’t necessarily scared, but admitted they should have been. They still have no idea what it was.
“We were more incredulous and confused. We were the only ones up there at the time, so we couldn’t see if anyone else responded,” he added.
“We googled it later, but all we could find was that strange noises have been heard all over the world for quite some time.”
