The Australian Defense Force has been accused of promoting ‘woke garbage’ after asking recruits about their pronouns and sexuality on application forms.

The Department of Defense’s APS career website asks prospective soldiers, sailors and airmen if they are cross-gender or part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

‘Which pronouns do you use: he/him, she/her, they/them’ is the first question asked on the form.

Recruits are also asked if they “identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning (LGBTIQ+)?”

Senator Ralph Babet of the United Australia Party branded it “woke garbage”, arguing the country’s enemies would laugh at us.

“Whoever comes up with this woke crap for the Department of Defense should be fired immediately,” he said told the Courier mail..

“Our defense force allows men to wear dresses, I imagine our enemies are laughing at us, it’s really sad.”

Applicants are also asked about their gender orientation, including the options for ‘non-binary’ and ‘gender diverse’ under the ‘workplace diversity’ section.

“There are only two genders, male and female,” Mr. Babet said.

‘There are only two pronouns: he and she. Everything else is a delusion and society needs to stop allowing lies to pass as truth.

“We have a force of about 57,000 men and we need at least 80,000 men. The military should focus on that instead of wokeness.”

An ADF spokesperson defended the questions on the form.

“Defense capability depends on our ability to attract and retain the best possible talent, regardless of background, gender, age, culture, religion, ability or sexual orientation,” he said.

‘Diversity and inclusion are crucial to the successful execution of Defense’s mission.

“It is important that the Defense workforce reflects the communities we serve.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted the Department of Defense for further comment.

As part of the National Defense Strategy announced in April, eligibility criteria will be expanded to allow more people to join the defense force.

From July, eligible New Zealanders can apply to join the Australian military and after 90 days are expected to become Australian citizens.

Defense Secretary Matt Keogh said the recruitment drive would not take people away from other countries.

“These are people who have already made Australia their homeland and we are offering them a fast track to citizenship by also joining the Australian Defense Force,” he told reporters in Canberra.

Mr Keogh clarified in the press conference that the option was available to all foreigners, after the initial statement identified a fixed group of countries.

Australia’s low unemployment made it difficult to hire defense personnel and this announcement was aimed at increasing potential recruits, Mr Keogh said.

Non-citizens wishing to join the military must have lived in Australia for at least a year before enlisting, must not have served in a foreign military in the past two years, and must be able to acquire Australian citizenship.
