Glenn Maxwell continued his shocking form against England on Wednesday night as pressure mounts on selectors to drop him from the Australian squad.
Just days out of the T20 World Cup England have delivered the Aussies a second consecutive loss by eight runs in Canberra.
Maxwell made just eight runs from 11 balls, shoving a shot against Sam Curran towards a deep straight during Australia’s chase.

It continues a sad string of low scores from the 33-year-old Victorian – who has scored just 16 runs in his last six T20 international matches.
Widely regarded as one of the most explosive hitters in the world, Maxwell now has the lowest international hit rate of the top-class Aussies T20 in the past year.
Incredibly, his eight runs last night in the country’s capital are his best performance of his last six games – which would set alarm bells ringing for selectors.
Australian cricket legend and commentator Mark Waugh admitted the all-rounder may not be a guarantee in the squad.

“It’s a real concern for Maxwell’s form leading into this World Cup,” he said in a commentary for Fox Sports.
“Maybe he’s not a lock on the team. (You) would have thought he would be, given the way he fields and his bowling.
“But he’s there to hit number 4 in the first place. (It will be) interesting to see what happens there in the future.’
Online cricket fans were not so polite, and many felt he should be taken out now.
‘Glenn Maxwell is a accomplished player and a big con artist,’ said one Twitter user
“Have to replace Glenn Maxwell if they want to keep the toilet,” commented another.
‘Glenn Maxwell is the most overhyped and overrated player in T20 cricket.’ said a third.

‘The Big Show’ has a few more chances to find its form before the World Cup kicks off, with upcoming warm-up matches against India and England.
Australian skipper Aaron Finch had mixed opinions about last night’s match.
“We were really bad on the field, pretty sloppy. David has been fantastic, his raw power has been fantastic,” he said after the game.
‘Depends on the opposition, but (this XI) is close. Debate about one or two spots. A nice luxury to have three world-class quicks. Trying different things with bowling distribution.’
The Aussies will begin their 2022 World Cup campaign against New Zealand on October 22 at the SCG.
