Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins has given a sarcastic response to a follower’s bizarre comment about his wife on social media.

Cummins took to Instagram on Valentine’s Day to pay tribute to his wife Becky, by posting a photo of the couple with surfboards.

He captioned the post: “Super mom, wife, my valentine and apparently a pro surfer too. Becky Cummins, Happy Valentine’s Day.’

It wasn’t long before Cummins received a lot of positive feedback, including the odd comment: “I’m Indian, I love you, your wife.”

Cummins cheekily responded to the fan: “I’ll pass it on to her!”

The Australian skipper’s post delighted fans, who ‘liked’ it nearly 7,000 times.

Cummins had an incredible 2023, doing what Steve Waugh, Mark Taylor and Allan Border couldn’t.

It started when the Aussies took revenge on India, beating their old rivals in the final of the Test Championship in Great Britain.

Cummins steered the Aussies to a memorable – and often hateful – series in England, meaning Australia retained the Ashes even without injured spin star Nathan Lyon.

Then came India’s most unlikely ICC Men’s World Cup victory, overcoming back-to-back losses to open the tournament and ending with a memorable victory over the shocked hosts in the final.

Receiving the Johnny Mullagh Medal was fitting as Cummins became only the second Australian in history to take 10 wickets in a match while captaining the side.

The other is Border.

The Australian cricket captain had an incredible 2023 season by all accounts

Cummins was a prodigious teenager who was famously mentored by the great Dennis Lillee.

Now he is breaking his master’s records, reaching 250 Test wickets with a superior average and strike rate, while captaining his country.

Among Australian pace bowlers, only Lillee and Glenn McGrath (55) have reached the 250-wicket mark in fewer Tests than Cummins’ 57 (Mitchell Johnson also reached the milestone in 57 Tests).

He is the 10th bowler from Australia to reach the target, joining teammates Mitchell Starc (342 Test wickets) and Nathan Lyon (505) on the coveted list.
