Australian comedy duo announce shock end to their podcast after 14 years and reveal very messy friendship fallout

The Australian comedy duo behind the hugely popular podcast The Little Dum Dum Club with Tommy & Karl had a heated argument.

Tommy Dassalo, 38, and Karl Chandler, 48, who have produced the show in Melbourne for 14 years, announced their split via social media on Wednesday.

In a chaotic public outburst, Dassalo told followers that his relationship with his TV partner had “deteriorated” and that the two “could no longer work together”.

He also added in the message, which he shared with X, that he found the situation “embarrassing.”

“Our working relationship deteriorated to the point where we failed to fulfill a lot of obligations,” he said of the split.

‘Reaching this point has been quite daunting for me, as I place a lot of value on the quality and consistency of what I put out.

“There is no one to blame here, but unfortunately there is no way forward. We can no longer work together and the show suffered as a result.

“Everything has to end eventually, right? Unfortunately, the other half of the show feels differently, despite my attempts to talk about it,” he added.

Elsewhere in the post, Dassalo apologized to fans for revealing the drama that wasn’t shown on TV.

‘Anyway, it’s all terribly embarrassing to have this happen in public, but what can you[?]’

Meanwhile, Chandler appeared to criticize his former comedy partner in an Instagram post on Wednesday with his own statement about the split.

‘Hey friends, sorry for the drama, it’s a bit much, don’t you think?’

Chandler spilled more dirt to his fans by saying the duo had issues, suggesting there was a legal battle behind their breakup.

“It’s been really tough lately. Always been great on TV, but a bit of a tough working relationship behind the scenes,” he admitted.

‘Of course I loved the show and put so much into it, and it would have been nice to have a normal conversation with a mate instead of just having legalese thrown at me. Really weird stuff, to be honest.’

He concluded the short message with a promise that he would publish “more content” about the shocking ending of their podcast.

The confirmation of the split comes after the pair missed out on an episode of Little Dum Dum Club with Tommy & Karl last week.

Fans were shocked after Chandler posted a message on their official Instagram last Wednesday explaining that no new episodes were planned.

‘Hey guys, sorry. There’s no new episode today and nothing planned,’ he said.

Chandler aired more dirty laundry to fans by saying the duo had issues and suggesting there was a legal tug-of-war behind their friendship breakdown.

‘There’s been a new episode every week for 14 years, so yeah, it’s not really Rick. This week probably won’t be named the best of 2024.

‘Trouble in paradise right now, so a big apology from me personally because I really appreciate how many of you are involved in the show like I am. There should have been a new episode today.

“Apologies again, and let’s talk soon! And happy 9/11! KC.”

The couple hinted at a split a week ago after they failed to upload a regular podcast

Dassalo added his own message to the post: ‘Sorry everyone! It really sucks to fail like this and miss episodes. I really appreciate all the support over the years, everyone who has come to a show, subscribed on Patreon, or shouted from a moving car. I love you all, thank you for your support!’

Chandler is a noted writer in the comedy scene, having contributed to Hard Quiz, Spicks and Specks, and The Project.

Dassalo is best known as a stand-up comedian and has performed regularly at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
