Australian cocaine smuggler Jackson Giles-Adams seeks pen pal

The Block’s Josh Packham tries to find a pen pal for his imprisoned friend who was arrested smuggling $1.3BN worth of cocaine from China in Australia’s largest coke bust, after being denied conjugal visits.

Block and Love Island star Josh Packham has taken to Facebook in an attempt to help his imprisoned friend.

The 28-year-old posted within the ‘Australian Prisoners Penpal Site’ Facebook group asking any of the members if they wanted to be penpals with his friend, Jackson Giles-Adams.

Jackson was sentenced to 17 years in 2021 after being involved in the largest cocaine seizure in Australian history.

“Hey guys my partner Jackson is currently serving time at Macquarie Correctional Center and looking for a pen pal,” Josh wrote on Facebook.

“He’s 30 years old, he was originally going to go to Love Island with me, however he got pinched at the wrong time,” the reality star continued.

“He’s super funny, fun-loving and just generally having a good time. Send me a private message if you are interested.

Josh appeared in the second series of Love Island Australia in 2019 with his twin brother Luke.

He then won the season with Anna McEvoy and then returned to reality TV in 2021 with Luke for Channel Nine’s The Block.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Josh said that Jackson was a childhood friend whom he was trying to help.

“He has a lot of friends on the inside, but he’s anxious to find a pen pal,” Josh explained.

‘They don’t allow spousal visits in NSW and it can be very lonely. Even just getting a letter from a woman to wait for would make a world of difference,” she added.

Jackson and his accomplice Christopher Preca were arrested and charged with drug importation offenses in 2020.

The two Australian men, along with another man from Hong Kong, were on a fishing boat off the coast of Newcastle where they picked up nearly two tons of cocaine from a Chinese ship.

After the delivery, law enforcement approached the trawler, causing a panicked Preca and Giles-Adams to set the cargo on fire.

Agents boarded the vessel and extinguished the fire, before discovering 1.9 tons of pure cocaine with a street value of $1.3 billion.

It is the largest cocaine seizure in Australian history.

In 2021, Preca and Giles-Adams were each sentenced to 17 years in prison, with a 10-year non-parole period, after pleading guilty to attempting to import a commercial quantity of border-controlled drugs.
